Janet has a love for working with children and families that dates back to 1985, when she started a business as a family home daycare provider. Before entering the field of mental health, she worked for several years as a substitute teacher, art program director and mentor for the school her children attended. Areas of additional training for Janet are animal-assisted therapies, Brain Gym, E.M.D.R, and Neurolinguistic Programming.

Janet has a special love for working with adopted adolescents and their families. Janet is pleased to bring to the Cottonwood community, the experience she has gained at Copper Canyon Academy, one of the nation's top therapeutic boarding schools. Janet looks forward to providing individual, marriage and family counseling with a focus on grief, loss and adoption issues. She is a member of the American Counseling Association.
